Optical Measurement
With each snapshot a vision system can gather hundreds of points. Any feature that can be measured optically can be measured faster and more accurately due to the amount of information gathered. Another advantage is shortening the programming time for machine positioning.
The automated vision system used for measurement increase the control of cycle time, provide the data for statistical analysis and real-time control, and eliminate operator influence on the data.
An application is where a syringe is provided with a volume scale. To check if this overprint of the scale is positioned correctly the vision system will measure different points.
Wire measurement
An automated optical measurement of an electronic component on a tester machine is performed by a vision setup. The wire pitch is checked if it is within tolerance, measured in micrometers. A calibration procedure is developed to guarantee the accuracy.
Print inspection
A print inspection system is developed to meet medical standards. Cameras are integrated at production printing machinery using either indexed or continuous motion. Line scan cameras are used to cover an image on 180 or 360 degrees round products. The vision system checks printing quality for presence and completion and measures the printing position (figures, lines and printed surfaces). In addition the system operates as a watchdog for adjusting inking process.
Our company implemented a 100% inspection system in collaboration with VistaLink to detect and prevent defects at customer level and to meet their quality standards. The system was able to check parts quality with more than 15 quality criteria on a total production of 275 Million units per year. Despite the complexity of the project itself, the system was successfully implemented in more than 20 manufacturing lines and the quality delivered to our customers increased enormously. It helped us to prevent defects and to improve our process.
