Powertrain Predator3D solution
In Powertrain RTV form-in-place gaskets are used to join two parts and create a seal. Examples include top and bottom of oil pan, front cover and cam covers. For aesthetic quality reasons, the RTV sealant needs to be the same color as the part so that any excess squeeze out is not readily visible to the customer. This “black-on-black” or “grey-on-grey” is challenging to conventional 2D systems to inspect. Further, excess squeeze out can also obstruct bolt holes or seep off the edges of the narrow part edge causing negative downstream assembly impacts.
Predator3D ensures the proper RTV volume is dispensed at correct location in real-time with no cycle time impact, thus minimizing excess sealant. Predator3D uses 4 lasers (to measure distance between part and dispensing nozzle and inspecting the bead after application) to inspect bead size, volume, and location, and detects any nozzle skips or “neck-downs”. Z-tracking compensates for part variation by enabling the robot to adjust nozzle height in real-time.
Our company implemented a 100% inspection system in collaboration with VistaLink to detect and prevent defects at customer level and to meet their quality standards. The system was able to check parts quality with more than 15 quality criteria on a total production of 275 Million units per year. Despite the complexity of the project itself, the system was successfully implemented in more than 20 manufacturing lines and the quality delivered to our customers increased enormously. It helped us to prevent defects and to improve our process.
A relationship of trust based on the perfect mastery and performance of the installed equipment, competent contacts, available and sensitive to the optimization of existing solutions
With the development of our white stock system, VistaLink delivered a state-of-the-art solution 15 years ago to prevent product mixup. Since then VistaLink is our partner for our most challenging vision projects.
When nobody else solves my vision needs, I turn to VistaLink for help. And they never let me down.
